Fervent Prayer Strategies

Welcome to our blog series on Prayer Strategy! Over the next several weeks we will be walking through the book Fervent by Priscilla Shirer and creating a battle plan with prayer. If you don’t have the book yet, you can grab it on Amazon by clicking here!

10 Fervent Prayer Strategies

This book outlines 10 different prayer strategies and encourages you to craft your own prayer for each strategy.

  1. My Passion
  2. My Focus
  3. My Identity
  4. My Family
  5. My Past
  6. My Fears
  7. My Purity
  8. My Pressures
  9. My Hurts
  10. My Relationships

If you have the physical Fervent book, there are little cards in the back that you could use, but I found that I don’t have enough space on those cards. I’ve got a lot to pray about I guess!

“This is war, the fight of your life. A very real enemy has been strategizing and scheming against you, assaulting you, coming after your emotions, your mind, your man, your child, your future. In fact, he’s doing it right this second. Right where you’re sitting. Right where you are.”

— Fervent, By Priscilla Shirer

Does reading that make you angry? Satan is always at work trying to sabotage our relationship with Christ. So how do we go to battle with the enemy? With prayer. Lots and lots of bold, determined, specific, strategic prayer.

“God has deliberately chosen this particular vehicle (prayer) as the one that drives His activity in people’s lives. It’s what He allows us to use to cooperate and partner with Him in the fulfilling of His will. Prayer is the portal that brings the power of heaven down to earth.”

— Fervent, By Priscilla Shirer

Combating The Enemies Battles

The 10 fervent prayer strategies that we are going to create will target the areas of our lives that Satan is working the hardest to destroy. And as Priscilla points out in her book, the battles the enemy wages against us possess a personality to them. He has an intimate knowledge of who we are and the precise pressure points where we are most easily taken down.

The enemy is set on destroying our hope and faith in the Lord. Now, I don’t know about y’all, but there is no way I’m letting the enemy rule over my heart, my family, or my life. These prayer strategies that we will cover, will give us something to fight back with! Ephesians 6:11 says, “Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against all the strategies of the devil.”

Satan’s Influence And Power

In the book, Priscilla mentions that most people either overestimate Satan’s influence and power, or they underestimate him and don’t assign him any credit at all for the difficulties he’s stirring up beneath the surface of their lives. I definitely fall into the latter of the two. I was unaware of just how personal, deceitful, and real the schemes of the enemy are. He has manipulated my emotions, made me question my worth and purpose, and caused friction, confusion, chaos, fear, and anxiety in my heart. And that is exactly what he wants. He aims to steal, kill, and destroy.

Has Satan gotten a foothold in your life? Have you had enough? If you’re ready to go to battle and fight back, then you’re in the right place! Join me as we create Fervent Prayer Strategies for our lives!

Next week we will dive into the first prayer strategy, your passion for prayer. I’m so excited to dig into this book with you. I truly hope it encourages you and helps you go to battle in prayer! Let’s link arms and kick the enemy to the curb, friends!

      1. Hi Teena! I’m so sorry the link is broken. Ill go in and get it fixed. Give me a day or two and you should see it!

  2. Hello Kayla, I’m new here & new to the whole idea of the war binder. I’ve been trying to get back on track in my walk with the Lord. I have often felt there was a spiritual battle in many ways and thus was really inspired when I saw the movie "War Room", but due to lack of space, I don’t even have a closet, the war binder idea sounds great! I’m going to try creating my own for now before purchasing any because quite honestly, I’m not or never been good at journaling, not one that even kept a diary growing up-or I’d make an entry or two and month later remember again! My question is in your Prayer Journal, what precisely is it? I mean up to now I’ve had prayer lists of all the people and all the things I pray for, but that’s it. So could use some guidance here & hopefully really begin creating and regularly using a Fatih Journal. Btw, I did subscribe, so you have my email and I can keep up to date on everything. Thank you so much I have found your site very informative and can’t wait to begin! Artemis

    1. Hi Artemis! That’s greta to hear! I think you will really love the process of creating and spending time in your war binder! So your prayer journal can be whatever you want it to be! When I first started I read and worked through the book Fervent by Priscilla Shirer. She walks you through creating prayers for different areas of your life. Aside from that, I write out prayers for whatever is on my heart. Lots of prayers for my marriage, family, babies, friends, etc. It’s also a great way to keep up with how God is working in your life and when and how He is answering your prayers! I have my war binder set up in 3 sections, prayer, gratitude, and scripture. But you can set yours up however you like! Some people add sections for confession, or bible studies they are working through. The great thing about a war binder is that it is customizable! And you can always change things up as you go! I hope this helps! Feel free to reach out if you have any more questions! bejoyful@liveoakboutique.com Blessings! – Kayla
