DIY Velvet Christmas Tree

Hi! Welcome back to my home. Today I want to share with you how to make these pretty, velvet Christmas trees. I saw these Velvet Christmas trees and loved them so much….but I knew I could create something similar. This is such a fun and simple craft to do. Anyone can do it!

All you need is a paper cone, some velvet ribbon, and a glue gun!

I found that this velvet ribbon worked really well! It has a little bit of a stretch to it and the soft edges help it to lay nicely when it overlaps.

How To Make DIY Velvet Christmas Tree

I like to start at the very top of the tree and work my way down.

Start by wrapping the very tip of the tree with your ribbon. Hold it in place with you fingers on one side, apply a tiny dab of hot glue on the other side. Then gently wrap the ribbon around.

Take your time getting the top covered because you want it to look nice and you want it to be a good starting point for how the ribbon will look wrapped around the tree.

Once you have the top glued on, simply start wrapping the ribbon around the tree. I stop and apply a little glue every few rows. Continue working your way around until you reach the bottom. I like to overlap the very last row one time to finish it off.

Trim your ribbon at an angel and then apply a small dab of hot glue to secure it.

Do you love these? I think they turned out so pretty! I made some yarn Christmas trees a few years ago, but I think I love these more than those! They look so pretty and elegant.

I joined a few sweet friends today and they are sharing more Christmas inspiration over on their blogs. Make sure you head on over and see what they created!

  2. I started making a velvet tree recently, but yours looks 100x times better! I love the tip about starting at the top of the tree form — I can see that the velvet shapes in such a nicer form that way!
And goodness how adorable is your tree next to your vintage Santa! 🎅🥰🥰
