Fall decorating doesn’t have to mean filling every corner with pumpkins. For this fall home tour, I kept things simple and layered in warm, natural touches that worked with the vintage pieces and collected decor already in our home.
Throughout the entryway, mudroom, living room, and kitchen, I used dried hydrangeas, wheat, muted pumpkins, vintage books, warm wood tones, and soft shades of green and brown to create a cozy, collected feel.

Simple French Cottage Fall Entryway Ideas
I kept our fall entryway simple, layering in a few natural elements with the vintage pieces we already had. A small seasonal wreath on the antique mirror, vintage books gathered in an old dough bowl, and bundles of dried wheat were enough to give the space a warm fall feel without completely redecorating it.
One of my favorite ways to decorate for fall is to work with what’s already in the room and simply add a few seasonal textures. Dried wheat, branches, faded florals, old books, and muted fall colors all work beautifully for creating that collected cottage look.
Simple Fall Decorating Ideas for a Cottage Mudroom
For the mudroom, I made just a few simple seasonal changes rather than completely redecorating the space. I switched out the florals and ribbon in my French market tote and added fall pillow covers to the bench. Small swaps like these are one of the easiest ways to bring a little fall color and texture into a room without changing everything.
Baskets, market totes, pillows, dried florals, and branches are especially easy pieces to change with the seasons. I love using things that are both pretty and practical in hardworking spaces like an entryway or mudroom.

In the kitchen, I kept the fall decorating simple and focused on a few warm, natural details. I hung a large wheat wreath on the vent hood and added a soft green velvet ribbon for a little color and texture. The wheat brings in that beautiful natural fall warmth without relying on traditional orange tones, while the muted green works easily with the colors already in our home.
On the kitchen island, I grouped a few green vintage books, faux hydrangeas, and a handmade floral vase on a wood riser. Using a tray or riser is one of my favorite ways to create a simple seasonal vignette because it makes a collection of smaller pieces feel intentional rather than cluttered.
I also like repeating colors and textures throughout a room. The greens in the books and florals tie back to the velvet ribbon on the wreath, while the wood, aged finishes, and faded flowers add the warmth and character I love in a collected cottage home.
French Cottage Fall Dining Room Ideas
For the dining table, I created a simple fall centerpiece using my painted turkey as the focal point and anchored everything with a large vintage-style cutting board. I layered in old books, velvet and painted pumpkins, dishes, and soft linens to give the table a warm, collected cottage feel.
I love mixing handmade pieces with things I already own when I’m decorating for fall. It keeps the room from feeling overly seasonal while still adding those cozy autumn layers.

Cozy French Cottage Fall Living Room Ideas
In the living room, I kept the fall decorating soft and simple with muted greens, warm browns, vintage pieces, and plenty of natural texture. One of my favorite ways to bring fall into a room is with dried flowers. For this arrangement, I gathered dried hydrangeas with a few dried roses. The faded colors and imperfect texture are so pretty for fall and work beautifully with vintage and collected cottage decor.
And of course, fall decorating isn’t only about what a room looks like. I love burning a cozy candle this time of year, and Momma’s Kitchen from Antique Candle Co. has been a longtime favorite. It smells like something delicious is baking in the kitchen, and I actually burn this one throughout the year.

A large antique basket I found while thrifting became one of the easiest fall decorations in the room. I simply filled it with pumpkins and tucked it beside the sofa. Vintage baskets are one of my favorite things to decorate with because they add warmth, texture, and age to a room — and they’re especially pretty filled with seasonal finds in the fall.
I also found this pair of open-back accent chairs on Facebook Marketplace for less than $100 each. They originally retailed for more than $1,000 each and were in beautiful condition. Facebook Marketplace, antique shops, estate sales, and thrift stores are some of my favorite places to look for furniture with character without paying full retail.

I kept our fall bedroom soft and neutral, using warm natural textures rather than adding a lot of traditional fall color. The simple DIY Fall Swag above the bed adds just enough seasonal texture while keeping the room feeling peaceful and calm.
